… Side Story Rumble Camp.
It was tiring, muscle-aching, cramp-inducing even, but nevertheless fun.
I’ll give a fast synopsis.
First, after registration, we were assigned our groups. There were 8 groups;
Tony, Maria, Anita, Riff, Bernardo, Rosalia, Consuela, Francisca. (whew!)
The groups were evenly split up, say, each of the cast were in different groups (although some groups had 2 cast members) and ensemble, dance, orchestra, stage/production crew, etc.
On the first day, we did some group games, got to know everyone better… (even teachers!) Mr.Mead taught us some exercises to perk up our…
1. Mind
2. Body
3. Voice
All in one. You’ll probably see us playing them in school
By the way, there’s a lot of snapping in West Side Story, better practice! ._.
Afterwards was Operation Nighthawk. Treasure hunting and riddle solving. Wooo.

CLEARING STATION!!
The 2nd day was probably the highlight of the weekend. First, some aerobics led by Mrs. Judimar and “Michael” (the instructor who came to the Grimmerie weekend last year) taught us some fun games. Afterwards, a dance instructor (I’m sorry, I forgot her name T_T) taught us the Mambo! The problem/awesome part *for some guys hehehe >_>* was that we had to find a partner, and guys CAN’T pair up with another guy.
Got it?
And we danced to Mambo no.5. ;D Awesome moves.
Then we took a break, and the people split up into their groups (I mean like dancers, orchestra, cast…) From what I heard, Mr.Mead, Mrs. Judimar and the dance instructor from before (I’m really sorry I forgot her name T_T) taught the Dance class, a Rock n’ Roll-themed guitarist taught the Orchestra some rhythm, and a vocal professional taught the cast some tips for their singing.
And then the games.
Man, they were messy.
There were 7 stations, and the groups (Tony, Maria, Bernardo etc.) were assigned in an order to go for the stations. (Although there was one station where two groups opposed each other)
I can’t remember the order of the stations, so I’ll just list them:
1. The Plastic Bag-Water-Transferring station.
The group members sat down in a line. The first one would fill up a plastic bag (all the bags leaked >:( evil…) with water from a bucket in front of him/her, pass it over their heads to the one behind (you CAN’T turn around) and until the last group member, who would pour the water out of the bag over his/her head into a bucket behind.
2. The Skin-Color Changing Station.
Everyone drenched themselves with water and had to take flour and cover themselves from the neck down. (Not the parts covered by clothes) So basically it’s the hands, neck, and legs if you’re wearing shorts.
3. The Topsy Turvy Station.
Members line up behind a line, and one by one they go to the next line, put your hand on the line, and spin around 10 times with your hand still on the line. Then from there, you walk to a bucket (the process is really funny) and pick up a ping pong ball with a spoon, and transfer it to another bucket. (lots of LOLz)
4. The Chair Station.
There are a certain number of chairs, and you have to squeeze 12-13 members on them STANDING (and leave one chair empty behind). Then, you pass the chair all the way to the front, and the whole group moves forward (to leave the last chair empty again) and you continue as far as possible. Oh, and while doing that, you have to hold an egg in your left hand. And three teachers are all pouring egg yolk on you (Miss Anne and her blessings… “IT’S RAINING!” “You need some in your pocket” XD )
5. The Water Bomb Station.
2 teams, one on each side, line up along a line. Then, when the whistle blows, all members race toward the line in the middle, where water bombs are set. The first one there will (obviously) pick it up, and bomb the opposing team. Lots of cool dodge moves 0.o
6. The Sticky Artist Station.
Group members all take chewing gum (Green Tea Mint flavored!) and chew them, and 3 people from the group construct a set picture using the gum. >_> I had to hold it while they worked.
7. … Oh dang. I can’t remember.
And we hosed ourselves down
(it was seriously messy.)
After some rest and food was Operation Blue Diamond (like last year, we had to solve a murder mystery and the teachers play the parts) Quite a few got the murderer right, but the most convincing one was Tasha’s group, (again) Maria! Tasha was awesome at that game O_O And Lauren made up most of the driving force, too (I was in their group, hooray! I am lucky.)
Then, we recuperated in our sleeping bags amidst the cold wind of air conditioning in the classroom.
(The girls slept in the Dance studio, though.)
The 3rd morning - Some more exercises by Mr. Harley Mead and Mrs. Judimar. Then, Mr.Kang announced some decided roles of the cast!
& Tony is…
LEON!!!
And Maria,
CLAUDILLEA!!!
The singer of West Side Story’s most famous song,
JULIE!!!! (Nuo En, you blur cases)
Leader of the Jets, Riff,
KHAL!!!
Leader of the Sharks, Bernardo,
MUHAIMIN!!!
Anita,
TASHA!!
Gao Jye, Marlena, William, Me, Joanne and Denisha have yet to have known their roles, so please don’t annoy us..
And so, the Rumble weekend has concluded.
